My first yoga experience was in 1977 with Transcendental Meditation. This was the gateway to where I find myself now some 4 decades down the path of yoga. It has become a way of life to me and I love to share my experiences and knowledge with others. The 8 Limbs of yoga by Patanjali have been my stepping stones through life and I am always amazed how endless the teachings are.
By the early 80's I found my first yoga lineage of Satchyananda and also studied the principles of Ayurvedic Medicine. In 1988 until 1993 I discovered Iyengar Yoga with Shandor Remete in Adelaide. It was the early days of yoga in Australia and I practiced next to people like Nicky Knoff (Cairns), Cameron Story (Gold Coast Yoga Centre) and Simon Borg-Oliver (Yoga Synergy, Sydney). Shandor was tough in those days and we were all crazy for discipline and hungry to learn what we could.
I also started a regular practice in Ashtanga Vinyasa in the early 90's and met my now current teacher in 1988 Simi Roche of Adelaide Ashtanga Yoga Shala, who is a friend and a constant inspiration to this day.
I have also travelled and lived overseas in India, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka and studied with Michel Besnard (Yogasana, Hong Kong), Anthony Carlisi in Bali and Graham Northfield also in Bali. I lived in India as a volunteer worker for Australia Volunteers Abroad from 1997-99 and attended several Vipassana Meditation 10 day intensives. India had a profound effect on my life and influenced many changes both personal and my relationship with yoga and its teachings.
My love of yoga and what it has brought to my life lead me to teaching in the mid 90's. I have had extensive training throughout the years and my committed life to yoga is unwavering. By attending my class is the only way you can experience what I myself have embodied.

I took up Yoga hoping to stabilize a dodgy back through increased core strength. Six or so months on, my back has improved, general flexibility increased and I've discovered that there's nothing like a few OMs to clear mental clutter. I have thoroughly enjoyed each class so far. Donna
After practicing yoga on and off for six years, I started Katrina's classes 6 months ago. Her classes are very dynamic and balanced. She is patient and a no-nonsense teacher. I definitely notice an increase in my strength and flexibility and feel like I have recharged my battery after every class. It keeps me going until the next one! Jeanne Marie van Berkel
Dear Katrina, I have suffered from High Blood pressure for well over 10 years. I have tried numerous ways to reduce it but without much success.
You suggested Yoga and breathing as a way to help control my blood pressure and I thought it cant hurt to give it a try
The results were astounding! I'm not the most flexible human being and found some of the exercises quite difficult. However, the combination of the exercises, the deep breathing and the relaxation that flows from this has had a profound effect on my blood pressure.
The breathing is something I can do in the car, between meeting clients and especially after a gym workout as a way to cool down. I'm also convinced that my health has improved dramatically. The feeling that my body detoxifies through deep yoga breathing is a positive effect.
I HIGHLY recommend yoga as a way to rebalance the body and the organs, Katrina has given me a powerful tool to regain my health and I am eternally grateful to her. Regards

I have been a student of Katrina"s for 8 years and she is always an inspiration to me.
She loves and lives the life of a yogini, which is very rare these days. I find her teaching and knowledge of the yoga sutras (Ashtanga - 8 Limbs) of a high standard.
Whenever I attend her class or have a private lesson I find she is very caring and supportive. I highly recommend her as a yoga teacher.
